INDIGO WILLIAMS-WILLING
Vietnamese Country of Origin Representative

My name is Indigo (Thuy Thi Diep Huynh) and I am from an orphanage in the Gia Dinh District, Saigon - Vietnam.  I was adopted by a family in Sydney, Australia in 1972.  I'm currently doing a PhD at The University of Queensland on trans-national adoption.  My previous studies include an MA Research Thesis on constructions of Identity in adult adopted Vietnamese at the University of Technology, Sydney and as a Rockefeller Fellow, ‘Project Vietnamese Diaspora’ at UMASS, Boston.  My ongoing work is greatly assisted through reciprocal cooperation with the ICASN network.  I am also interested in Migrant and Women's Issues.

In April 2000 on the 25th Anniversary of Operation Babylift, I launched Adopted Vietnamese International (AVI), an online cooperative dedicated to the war orphans of Vietnam who were adopted by Western families.  Since its launch, AVI has attended events in Australia, Vietnam, and the USA - and its membership covers many other countries.

If you would like any further information and would like to contact other Vietnamese adoptees in Australia and overseas, please contact me at the AVI Website: http://www.adoptedvietnamese.org or e-mail info@adoptedvietnamese.org
