MEGAN JONES
My name is Megan Kyeong, adopted from South Korea in 1988. I have a younger brother, not blood related, who is also adopted from South Korea. I have travelled the world, re-visiting the Mother Land (South Korea) on 3 occasions when I was younger. I also lived in Zambia for 3 years and have made other trips to Tonga, England, Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Southern countries in Africa. I currently live in Adelaide, and love living here! But I’m getting itchy feet and am ready to travel again, I’ve planned to go to Zambia again, Dubai, and other parts of Australia. I am at UniSA studying Social Work, I became passionate about working with people in high-school. I currently work as a Youth Worker with teens that are under a Guardianship of the Minister order, and as a Domestic Violence support worker in an emergency accommodation shelter. I have searched for my birth parents, but no returns on any of my searches. I hope to eventually make it back to South Korea as an adult, and complete an independent search. Finding my birth family is not crucial to my well-being, but it is more out of curiosity that I would want to seek more information. I love hanging out with my friends, going to the beach (working on my eternal tan!), shopping, and love playing and listening to music. I am quite committed to my church, helping with the youth, and young adult’s ministry. I am interested in hearing other adoptees stories, as we are all similar in that we share the title of being adopted, but we’ve all experienced various positives and negatives of being adopted. I look forward to being able to meet you all, and I’m thrilled with being a part of ICASN to link SA’s Inter-country adoptees together! You can contact me at Mk.j@hotmail.com
